Is life really unfair?

This is the story of my close friend. My friend works and stays in Bengaluru. 2020 started on a good note for her as everything was going good in her life and her family. Her brother got his dream job. She met a nice person and they both decided to spend their life together.
My friend and the guy had spoken for few months before they decided to go ahead with the marriage. The only worry she had was moving to UAE and finding a new job. They had discussed a lot about her career after marriage and the guy was very supportive about her future in every sense. She was dreaming about spending her life with the guy.
Due to Covid-19 lock down guy couldn’t come to India for wedding as international flights were discontinued and his travel to India was postponed to May 2020. Later the Covid-19 cases started increasing and International flights were not resumed. So, it was again postponed to May and then to June. But these two were in touch talking and dreaming about their future.
On 23rd June, when she called me and told that the guy is not responding to her messages and calls since a day. I checked with her if they had an argument over anything but she said No. On 22nd morning he has messaged her and after that there were no messages/calls. We thought his phone must have been broken down and he will contact her once he gets a new one. I told her to wait for a day or two and then inform her parents. On 24th, she called me and started crying. She said the guy whom she was supposed to get married to passed away on 22nd June. I was shocked.
I immediately rushed to her place and the story was “The guy had lost his job 15 days before as a part of Covid-19 recession layoffs in UAE. He has not told her as he assumed she might not marry him. He was trying to get a new job and he was stressed. He has had heart attack due to this stress on 22nd June”.
That too this incident has happened while he was on video call with his mom after messaging my friend.
My friend is a really nice person and she dint deserve it. I don’t think anyone in this story deserves it. Definitely not him. He was about to start a new life. Neither his parents. They lost their son right in front of their eyes and they couldn’t do anything. They were helpless when this was happening.
His body was brought to India on July 1st and cremated here. My heart clenched when my friends said “I was waiting for him to come to India to meet but not like this” I feel bad whenever my friend asks me “what was the purpose of the guy coming into her life”. I really don’t have an answer and words to console her. Whose fault is it? My friend? The guy? or families involved?
“Life is not always unfair. But, sometimes it really is”

My heart goes out to the unfortunate girl! These pandemic has done a real number on all of our lives. Nothing can be more tragic than having to experience your life shatter in front of you in such a short span of time. Life if unfair; really very unfair. I hope she finds some peace in her life.
